Welcome to this newsletter. I hope everyone enjoyed June’s good weather as July’s is being very variable here, with extreme heat on the continent.

As we head into the school holidays, be careful and prepared wherever and whenever you take a break or have days out.

Kind regards,

Councillor Philippa Gibbons

Bandstand Concerts at Myrtle Park

We still have 6 brass bands yet to perform at our Bandstand Concerts at Myrtle Park. All the events are free and have been well attended. Joining us next is Pop Up Brass on the 30th July between 2pm and 4pm. The weather is so far forecast to be quite pleasant so feel free to bring a picnic and all the family.

Town Councillor Vacanies

The deadline has now passed for the two councillor vacancies on the Town Council. The Council will consider the co-option of the potential candidates at the Full Council meeting on Tuesday 25th July 2023 6.30pm at Cottingley Town Hall, Main Street, Cottingley.

New Members Appointed To Committees

At the recent Full Council meeting, Councillor Heseltine was elected onto the Neighbourhood Plan Working Group and Councillor Gentleman was elected onto the Staffing Committee. Details of councillors and their involvement in committees can be found here: Bingley Town Council – Committees and Sub-Committees

Grants Awarded

The latest Town Council grants have been awarded as follows. Bingley Congs Cricket Club have been awarded £5000 and Beckfoot and Bingley Tennis Club have been awarded £2000.

Bingley Congs Cricket Club are planning to build a new 2 lane cricket net facility for use by their Senior and Junior Sections, with plans to run 4 senior teams along with an Under 11s, Under 9s and ‘All Stars’ juniors program. They are hoping that, as well as growing their number of teams at the club, they can also work with local schools who could use the improved facilities for sporting activities.

Beckfoot and Bingley Tennis club will use their grant as a contribution to making changes to their existing clubhouse. They will begin by using this funding to replace the flooring and kitchen units. The club have outlined plans to make further improvements to the facility including adding shutters for extra security and improving changing room facilities.

Are you a local community group looking for extra funding? To find out more about the scheme, or to get an application form, please email us at enquiries@bingleytowncouncil.gov.uk
