Dear Residents
To help keep everyone safe during periods of ice and snow Bingley has a large number of grit bins in and around the district. Bingley Town Council grit bins have recently been refilled so we are ready for the winter season. However if you notice a grit bin near you running empty you can order a refill for those owned by either Bradford Metropolitan Districts Council (BMDC) or Bingley Town Council.
If you need a BMDC grit bin refilled you can do this via their website by using the gritting request form. Gritting request form | Bradford Council
If you need a Bingley Town Council grit bin refilled you can contact us at:Â enquiries@bingleytowncouncil.gov.uk
You can identify a Bingley Town Council grit bin by the Bingley Town Council logo on it.
Alternatively you can view the full list of Bingley Town Council grit bins by using the following link: Bingley Town Council grit bins
Please note that if the grit bin is not provided by BMDC or Bingley Town Council the owner of that grit bin will need to be contacted about refills.
How do we order a grit bin we live just off Swan Avenue on an elevated cul de sac and the exit goes straight on to a busy section not good when it’s icey or snowing !!
Dear Ms Grainger
The BMDC request form did have an option to request a new bin. However my understanding is that bins in new location are only provided if they meet strict assessment criteria so the provision of a new bin cannot be guaranteed.
Bingley Town Council is just about to consider whether to purchase additional bins this year but I am afraid I wont be able to get the bin you suggest assessed before the decision meeting is held; however, I will still mention it as a potential location.
Kind regards

Hi, we used to have a grit bin at the top of Healey Avenue with the junction of Ashfield Crescent. It was removed when a new initiative of Snow teams were introduced albeit briefly about 10 years ago by a local councillor who lived here. We were given snow shovels, Wheely bins full of grit ( that I couldn’t move) and high Viz tabards. After the 1st year/ load of grit it was never repeated and the bin at the top of the hill was never replaced. So, how do get our bin back and what are the ‘strict assessment requirements’ please.
Regards.
Dear Ms Leach
Following a review by Bingley Town Councillors earlier in the year, Healey Avenue has been included in the list of bins to be considered for purchase by Bingley Town Council. Inclusion on this list does not guarantee that a purchase will be made due to financial constraints. I am likely to have a decision about which additional bins will be purchased this year after the next meeting of the Finance and General Purpose committee which is being held next week. I will update you on the result for Healey Avenue then.
Kind regards

I have tried several avenues to request a grit bin for Lode Pit Lane; all to no avail. There is an old bin which has never been filled and no way of identifying who it belongs to. Please can we have a council grit bin which can then be refilled. Thanks
Dear Ms Taylor.
Am I correct in thinking that Lode Pit Lane is an un-adopted road? If so I think that was part of the issue that prevented this road being supplied with council grit or a new grit bin. I am following up with Bradford District Metropolitan Council to see if that policy is still in place and will update you when I have more news.
Kind regards
