Dear Residents,

Well October has been warmish and wet; however, despite this the Yorkshire area remains in drought and the forecast is for a relatively dry winter – information can be found here: https://consult.environment-agency.gov.uk/yorkshire/copy-of-prolonged-dry-weather-in-yorkshire/).  As a result, Yorkshire Water have recently been issued with drought permits to conserve water in 12 reservoirs to secure public water supplies, so please continue to conserve water.

We have finally heard some news about the money from the Priestthorpe Annex.  The relevant Bradford Metropolitan District Council Committee – the Regulatory & Appeals Committee – met on Thursday 27th October to look at the mechanism for distributing funds.  The agenda and papers for this meeting can be viewed here https://bradford.moderngov.co.uk/ieListDocuments.aspx?CId=157&MId=7967&Ver=4, and the minutes should appear in due course.   There were a number of legal issues raised that the Committee could not address, so these will be picked up at their next meeting on 24th November.

We have been told that the Bingley Levelling Up Bid has made it through to the second round of evaluation but given all that has happened in government recently it is now likely that a final decision won’t be known until the end of the year.

A reminder that help to cope with the cost-of-living crisis and the directory of Warm Spaces is available here https://costoflivingbradford.co.uk/.  The main Warm Space in Bingley is currently the Library.

Kind regards,

Councillor Philippa Gibbons

Chair

Successful previous litter pick and next litter pick on Sunday 13th November 2022

Litter pickers

Another successful litter pick was held on 22nd October. Thanks as always to our Littler Pick Champions for the great help and support in keeping Bingley clean.

There will be a Town Council organised litter pick prior to the Remembrance Day parade on Sunday 13th November, meeting to undertake a leaf clearance prior to this event. The time is earlier for this extra litter pick, to meet at Bingley Arts Centre main entrance at 8am – however residents are encouraged to attend whenever they can (we appreciate this will be early for some!). The aim is to be completed by 10am at the latest – any help on the day will be very much appreciated
