Dear Residents,Â
Our first Play in the Park event has been held, and despite the early weather, was well attended with families enjoying themselves and picnicking. Details of these ongoing events, held in our parish on Fridays during the school holidays, are later in the newsletter. Â Neighbouring Parish Councils are also hosting some of these, so look out for dates across the broader district.Â
Hot off the press – the Levelling Up bid for Bingley was submitted in time for the government’s revised deadline of 2nd August.  Whilst the Town Council has not seen the bid, via the District Councillors we have been told that it encompasses the total internal refurbishment of the Pool building to give a pool, gym, café and meeting space, as well as a partial covering of the Market Square and improvements to the public space between the two.  Not sure when the outcome of the bid will be known, October had been mentioned previously, but as the submission deadline was pushed back a month, this may flow through to the award date. More details will be shared if and when we get them.Â
We have definitely had weather over the last month! The south of England is now starting to declare drought restrictions, and even though we’ve seen rain, the ground is still very dry and water levels are low in our reservoirs and rivers.  Please consider your water usage, and take care when out and about.  Â
Kind regards,
Councillor Philippa Gibbons
Chair

Changing Places Project
Preparations for the Changing Places toilet are still underway: the drains are all in and operational, and the Changing Places pod is being constructed.
The foundations pads still need to be put in place to site the pod upon, due to a slight delay with the foundation works, however a completion date in early September is now anticipated.
Play in the Park

Monthly Farmers’ Market
The next Farmers’ Market is due to be held in Bingley Market Square on Saturday 6th August, 10am – 2pm.
Please come and join us to buy local produce and unique handmade goods. Meet Town Councillors and discuss any issues you may have regarding the local area. Entertainment will be provided by Izak Wilkinson, 10.45am – 11.30am and 12.00pm-12.45pm.
If you are a local producer and would be interested in having a stall at the Farmers’ Market, please do get in touch with Otley Town Partnership who run the market on behalf of Bingley Town Council. They can let you know the requirements to be a stall holder and what would be involved. The can be contacted via their website at: Bingley – Yorkshire Farmers’ Markets (yorkshirefarmersmarkets.co.uk)
Alternatively if you are involved with a local charity which has public liability insurance and are interested in promoting their work at one of the Farmers’ Markets, please contact Ruth Thompson, Administrative Officer by email at a.o@bingleytowncouncil.gov.uk.
In addition to our monthly Farmers’ Market, Bradford Council hold weekly markets on Fridays and the other remaining Saturdays – please support your local markets when you can to ensure that they can stay open.
Assets of Community Value
The Town Council has recently received notification that we have achieved the status of Asset of Community Value for Myrtle Park.
Unfortunately our application nominating Bingley Town Hall was not successful, and we are still awaiting a response for the application nominating Bingley Pool. .
New Staff
Bingley Town Council is delighted to welcome a new part time member of staff. Debbie is our new Admin Assistant.  She has already fitted well into the team and is busy improving our social media capabilities.
I’m so excited to join the team at Bingley Town Council. I worked for Bradford Council for twelve years before coming here and already have been made to feel so welcome. My interests outside of work involve researching history, my particular obsession being royal history. I also love anything to do with books. It doesn’t matter how many I already have on my shelf, there is always room for more.
