Hello and a Happy New Year to you all.

One of the key events for the Council in 2023 is the elections on 4th May – all 16 Town Councillor positions are open for election.  So if you’d like to help improve Bingley, or influence what the Town Council does, I’d encourage you to consider standing and investigate the role. We don’t have exact dates yet, but to stand you’ll have to complete and submit nomination papers to Bradford Council by mid to late March.  We will publicise the process nearer to the time.

Work is continuing on the distribution of the money held by the 1887 Alfred Sharp Bingley Educational Trust – the Priestthorpe Annex money.  Local schools and organisations within the old Bingley Improvement District will be able to bid for funding; letters will be going out to relevant schools soon with information on how they can apply.

As we are in another very cold snap, please look out for any elderly or vulnerable neighbours and ensure they are OK.  If you are struggling with the cost of living a reminder of the Warm Spaces in Bingley:

Litter Picks

Unfortunately, due to the wintry weather, we made the difficult decision to postpone the litter pick which was due to take place at the weekend. We have now agreed a new date, which is Saturday 4th February at the usual time of 10am to 12pm. Cllr John Goode and others will meet you at the junction of Whitley Street and Clyde Street with all necessary equipment. Everyone is welcome to join.

If anyone has any ideas/suggestions for future litter picking locations, please inform the Town Council.  Or if you would like to be added to our mailing list to be notified by email of each litter pick event, please let us know.

Green and Clean Forum

The Town Council have also reinstated the Green and Clean Forums, to provide information to local groups. The next Forum is due to take place on Saturday 28th January at 10am at Cardigan House, where a presentation and question and answer session will be provided on energy efficiency in the home and other related topics.

If you would like to be included in our Green and Clean Forums and be invited to future events, please get in touch via our website or by emailing us at enquiries@bingleytowncouncil.gov.uk

We actively encourage local community groups to be involved to help spread advice to the people of Bingley.

Bingley Farmers’ Market

Bingley Town Council have made the decision to relinquish the monthly Farmers’ Market, due to lack of both stalls and footfall.

Bradford Council will be taking on these Saturdays with their weekly artisan markets. The Town Council fully support these markets, and hope that they are a great success to bring people into Bingley.
